San Diego, Caifornia

Hello All!
This is Monica! We are sitting outside an internet cafe which is closed mooching off their wi-fi.
Sorry we have not been able to update sooner. The internet is hard to come by in Cali. Ok, so let's see where we last let off.

We left Scottsdale, Arizona and headed for San Diego, California. It took quite the trip out there to finally reach our destination at Jess's (Different from Alabama Jess) new house in Fashion Valley. ( Swanky!) We had to go through mountains that literally looked like they were made out of piles of rocks. It was quite interesting. We drove through the Arizona and California desert where we started out at 107 degrees and by the time we reached San Diego it was 73.

We finally got to Jess's around 9. She had just moved into the new place. Holly and I were starving so Jess and her fabulous roomie Daveda took us to the fun sportsbar to get some grub. Shanners was tired so she stayed at the house for some rest.

Friday- Slept in. We went down to see the Seals at La Jolla Cove. They weren't sunbathing n the beach like usual, but a couple were playing in the water. Decided to go to Ocean Beach and work on our tan. We stayed on the beach until we were STARVING. Then we went to guess where... a MEXICAN restuarant. Mexican seems to be our theme of the trip. It was delish though. We started to get all hyped up to go the Gilly's Bar to sing Karaoke. We headed home to get ready and relax before our night out. As the night neared though, we decided to cook a nice Italian dinner, eat on the back patio with a fire pit and wine and watch a chick flick instead of doing the bar scene. Karaoke could wait till tomorrow. So, we went out to our favorite haunt in San Diego - Ralph's Grocery Store and picked up items for dinner. It was a great relaxing girls night.

Saturday- Slept in again, lucky us. Jess drove us around town to see all of San Diego. We decided to go Balboa Park and have a picnic... we got our food at RALPHS! The picnic was lovely! Then, Shannon ran, Holly, Jess, and I read and napped. It was soo relaxing. We then decided to walk around the park which was surrounded by museums and fountains and hiking trails. It being Saturday, we must have seen about 15 weddings all around.

To cap off the perfect day we went to Coronado Island, got ice cream and walked on the beach. We even watched another wedding, which in the middle of it, this hugh military plane flew by drowning out ALL sound. Talk about romantic ambience. This is the night of Gilly's Karaoke. We headed to yet again, Ralph's to pick up some frozen pizza's for dinner. We got ready and headed out to the bar.

We had so much fun here... Jessica and I sang "Friends in Low Places", Shannon, Holly, and I sang "Life is a Highway" which is our theme song, and we completed our goal! Holly and I sang "Hell Yeah". Jessica, Holly, and I sang "Take Another Little Piece of My Heart" by Faith Hill. We have that all on Video. Fun, Fun, Fun! So we did not get in until after two! And we got more Pizza from Ralph's!

Sunday! We went to this great farmer's market. We all bought some fantastic thing. Jessica got a dress and a big hat to match it. Holly, Shannon, and I all got these awesome handmade vases and candle holders. We decided to hit up the beach again! We went back to Ocean Beach. After that, we left to get ready to go to Church, Old Town, and to have a bonfire on the beach. Unfortunately, there was no church service when we thought there was. So we headed to dinner at a Mexican restuarant in Old Town, San Diego which is this little town that replicates and old time Mexican town. Dinner was fantastic. We could not finish it all and had the leftovers for the drive the next day. Then we went to Ocean Beach and had a bonfire on the beach. We walked up to one firepit and almost walked right onto a homeless person who was laying huddle up next it. We didn't even see him, it was pretty nervewracking! Ahh! Other than that, it was pretty awesome. We told stories and played "Never Have I Ever". We saw guys carrying a couch from the ocean to the boardwalk, who knows where that came from, but it was funny. We went home around midnight, to get into bed and rest for our drive to Los Angeles! More to come!!!!

These are the couch boys. Then it is us laughing at them.
